I have been teaching the TOS Course at CATI since 2007 which is a 16 week Diploma Course that is registered with Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This Course has been running since the late 90's and has many graduates working in Transportation all over Ontario, The Transportation and Operation Specialist Course (TOS) allows student to enter into many different areas of a trucking company with the confidence that He or She will be able to fit in quickly to their environment and become a valueble asset to the company in a short peiod of time. The training covers all of the major Safety and Compliance topics and provides the training needed to operate most computerized dispatch systems that trucking companies use to track equipment, drivers and schedule maintenance with. Some of the other software I train our students with is used to find matching loads and investigate other carriers for safety performance and CVOR safety ratings asshowen in the helpful links tab. All of the training provided in class is given in lecture with open discusions to alow the student to examin the subjects with his or her own disign.

 

Pior to coming to CATI the course was taught by two instructors but with my diverse back gound as a Dispatch Manager at a major automotive carrier and a software tech I was able to merge the couse successfully in to a single Instructor course. I have also added a real proccess to the training to give the students a feel for the jobs that they will be doing. I also set up tours at trucking companies so that the students hear from the experts what the demands of their profession will require. 

 

If the student meets all the nessasary requirements I will help set up an 8 week placement for student that graduates the 16 week Transportation Operation Specialist Course.This is at trucking company that has been investigated by the student in his or her area that is willing to offer to have student to shadow the trucking company operations and give a real time experience to enhance their education.
